The Green Cathedral
About this work
Dense jungle canopy closes overhead as a narrow path disappears into darkness. Painted from memories of night patrols in Panama and Honduras with the 2/187 Rakkasans, this work captures the sensory intensity of moving through Central American rainforest after dark - the dripping water, insect chorus, and distant animal calls. The layered greens and browns evoke that sustained, low-level tension of navigating by night vision, where every sound matters and the jungle becomes both cathedral and labyrinth.
